Statutory Supervision
A statutory supervisor is an independent monitor and advisor appointed by the village operator to protect the interests of residents. Anchorage supervises retirement villages throughout New Zealand, notably those belonging to Ryman Healthcare Limited together with villages owned by charitable trusts and commercial operators.
Statutory supervisors are appointed under a deed of supervision and have a number of duties under the Retirement Villages Act, including:
- - acting as an independent stakeholder for the holding of deposits and progress payments by residents to operators
- - monitoring the financial position of the village
- - reporting annually to the Registrar and residents on the performance of their duties
- - carrying out other functions specified in the Act or the deed of supervision with the village.
